A tribute for starters - to all those who endeavor to simplify (sophisticatedly, of course) and ease the art of living. Cheers techno-geeks!
A wannabe geek or just another tech-hooked street guy? A bit of both esp being overwhelmed with awe-inspiring gizmos, software and net-resources today.
An introspection into oneself is what people in my field of work profess about. Such an exercise into the way we work, go about our chores and on the kind of dreams we have, led to an 'on ur face' revelation - being a techno-geek is no more an exception, it's the defining rule of the majority ! Women and men these days are more appropriately sorted as geek novice, semi-geek and thoroughbred geek (don't deny further sub-classes :) ).
I do remember the days when EQ (Emotional quotient) was being proclaimed to be a better predictor of human potential/ success than IQ (Intelligence Quotient) alone. These days a TQ (Tech quotient, if I may say so) may seem to highly predict survival chances. All the more I find it reasonably compelling to believe that a person with a high intuitive EQ base powered by a robust IQ and topped by an adaptive TQ has a sure shot at making through the next episode of natural selection.
Many like me are initiated to this tech array by the sheer promise of ease and fulfillment in daily life. And for many it's a passionate calling. Wherever in the spectrum we stand, tech use and TQ sure comes right next to intuition, instinct and intellectual awareness in the survival toolbox.
Like those smart aliens right out of a George Lucas script, the human race too would in no time be tech-savvy, tech-obsessed and technologically supreme (in case any aliens are listening). Like how scientific thinking inspired and helped evolve a generation, dreaming up innovative techs, enhanced adaptability to newer techs and innovatively putting tech to our best use would define our generation.
On a social network, when asked to list the things you can't live without, I find myself (as like most of u) rattling of one gizmo, Web 2.0 entreprise and software after another (of course family and friends come before all ;) ).
Looking back at what Bill Gates said years back regarding putting a PC (btw I'm a PC obsessed with Mac themes) on every desk in the world, it makes me wonder if anybody'll ever be able to prophesize on the gadgets/ tech products we'd find in the survival kit for the next decade.
So here I am trying to move ahead from an 'upper novice-geek' class to improve the chances of survival and to find fulfillment. For those on the same boat as mine, lets row together to catch the big ship. And to those already on the techno geek ship - never underestimate the just-initiated (or uninitiated for that matter). Let's 'tech'ily live, tweak and evolve together.
Cheers guys!
